Gabriela Sabatini - 2006 International Tennis Hall of Fame Inductee
It was very touching to have Gaby introduced by her former foe and long-time friend, Steffi Graf. The two first played when they were twelve and continued their rivalry for almost two decades winning the 1988 Wimbledon Doubles title together. Sabatini won 27 singles titles, the Silver Medal at the 1988 Olympics and was ranked in the top ten for ten consecutive years. Although Gaby was a natural clay court player, she capped her career by winning the 1990 U.S. Open Championship on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows. In her remarks, Gaby talked about first picking up the racket at age 6 and falling in love with the game of tennis. She also thanked her family and coaches etc. because she noted that although tennis is an individual sport it takes a team effort to be successful. Gaby touched fans all over the world with her exciting play and warm heart. As Steffi said of Gaby in her introduction, “Far into the future, people will know what we know so well today, that to be athletic, graceful, honest and loyal can all be summed up in one word, Gaby.”

Gabriela Sabatini was my favorite Womens Tennis Player above Steffi and Seles. I wish her all the best for her future. But I miss her so much watching the current Tennis Matches of this generation. My dream is to meet Gaby one day and have a dinner with her alongside her rival and friend steffi. Hope my dream comes true until then I keep dreaming about it and enjoy every moment in my dream atleast. Gaby wherever you are, be happy and have a wonderful life with your luckiest husband and childrens you have. I will always pray for you that you live a long life and help others in all the things that you can do in your own country Argentina and try to come to India some time and meet all of us.
Thank you for being my best sportswomen in Tennis since I was watching Tennis from the Year 1988.
With lots of love,
