Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf recently announced that they are launching a collection of home furnishings with Kreiss. After he won his first major at Wimbledon in 1992, Agassi purchased his first piece of furniture, a Kreiss sofa. The Agassi Graf Collection is quite striking and several pieces feature distinctive woven leather designs. Off white and dark brown seem to be the dominant colors in the modern designs. Many celebrities such as music stars have designed clothing lines, but I believe Agassi and Graf are the first tennis stars to branch out into furniture design. Gabriela Sabatini was the first tennis player to design a fragrance. Currently, Roger Federer has his own line of cosmetics and fragrances and Maria Sharapova has a new perfume. While these side ventures generate additional off-court income for the players, they also have the positive effect of potentially broadening the appeal of tennis beyond diehard fans.
