The U.S. Open seems to be making an extra effort to be a "fan-friendly" Grand Slam. There are people stationed by the main entrances "welcoming" visitors to the Open. There are at least 3 different mini-stages where all sorts of musical acts are performing all day long.In addition, depending on the day, there are the myriad sponsor giveaways which all fans receive when they enter the grounds.Of course, there are also the various tennis-related “fan-friendly” efforts, e.g. fans may now keep any balls that land in the stadium seats and match winners hit 3 autographed balls into the stands after all matches on the show courts. And, of course, the 2006 U.S. Open is the first Grand Slam with instant replay. In a way, the U.S. Open feels a bit like a country fair in the big city with so many non-tennis activities going on around the grounds.
