New York, New York?

I hate to break it to you, but the U.S. Open doesn’t really take place in New York City. The actual address of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is in Queens. Although outer borough peeps may protest, New York City really only refers to Manhattan. In fact, the only place where your mailing address is really “New York, New York” is if you live in Manhattan! OK, Wikipedia will explain to you that there are five boroughs in New York City, i.e. Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island, but there really is only one “New York City”… The Australian Open really is in Melbourne, a stone’s throw from the CBD aka “central business district.” The French Open really is in Paris albeit on the very edge of the city. And Wimbledon, well it’s in Wimbledon of course!

And it takes a long time to get out to the tennis center from NYC!
