David Nalbandian has showcased the diversity of his talents on all surfaces by reaching at least the semifinals at all of the Grand Slams.
After a successful career as a top junior, which included winning the U.S. Open Junior title defeating Roger Federer in the finals, Nalbandian first made his mark on the pro tour when he reached the Wimbledon finals in 2002.
For the past couple years, Nalbandian has hovered in the top 5 of the rankings and capped off 2005 by defeating Federer in the ATP Masters Cup in Shanghai.
Recently, Nalbandian led the Argentinian Davis Cup team into the Davis Cup Finals by winning his singles and doubles matches against the Aussies.
Off court, David’s deep blue eyes and striking good looks have landed him a place amongst “People en Espanol’s” 50 Most Beautiful People list!
Will Nalbandian win a Grand Slam title or rise to Number One in the rankings?
Fitness will be key because although Nalbandian has a solid record in five set matches, he has had a few injuries in 2006.
More importantly, he may need to play slightly more aggressively during the key moments in big matches.
The next year or two will be critical for Nalbandian.
Although David will only be 25 in January, he has already been on the tour for almost 6 years.
Not surprisingly, the road up the mountain always seems to get tougher as you get older…
