Tech 'n Tennis

atsign

Tennis has connected to technology on many levels and the ties that bind the two together are getting stronger.  A decade ago, the Grand Slams had their first websites featuring live scores, news, interviews, etc.  Nowadays, every tournament has a website and most top players have their own websites. Technology has had a subtle impact in certain ways, e.g. the use of digital photography by professional and amateur photographers.  In a more visible way, instant replay, which made its Grand Slam debut at the 2006 U.S. Open, will become a fixture on the tennis circuit within a year.  In the future, the sport of tennis, at least from a fan’s perspective, will be impacted even further by technology as the Internet and TV become even more intertwined.  Until recently, fans could only see matches if they were televised in their country.  However, live streaming video of tournaments via the Internet will provide fans all over the world even more access to their favorite players.  Another example of technology making the world feel just a little smaller…
