The time on the tennis calendar from mid-November to early January is called the "off season."But that term is really not an appropriate description. Most top players do take a week or two of total vacation from tennis. But the "work" starts up immediately. They need to train on and off the court for the following year and there are all the "off season events."Tennis players usually play several tennis events during this time.Though none of it counts toward their ranking, they often "raise" lots of money either for their own bank account through exhibitions or for various charities through special events or pro-am matches. As a friend of mine likes to say, "it's all good."The only minor little problem is that the players never really get a nice long vacation... maybe next year!
