It doesn’t yet exist! But having played at more than a few of the best all around the world, it’s not that hard to imagine what it should look like!Let’s start with location. The weather needs to be warm year-round, but not too hot except for maybe a month or two a year. The courts… there needs to be multiple surfaces, e.g. clay, hard and natural grass, and enough courts so that it’s not difficult to find a court even during peak season. It would be a treat to play on courts that have a nice view or are near the ocean. It is also much better when courts are grouped in twos with a little cabana for a rest and drinks in between the courts. It’s great when the tennis center has a couple good pros and access to playing partners so they can support the needs of players of all levels and interests, e.g. private lessons, group clinics, fill-in hitting partners, etc.The rest of the resort matters as well.I always like browsing pro shops for a new top or sweater and never have time to find these except when I’m on vacation so I usually end up making a purchase the few times the resort pro shop has good-quality tennis attire. When I’m not on the court, I usually want to be able to swim, go to the beach or for a bike ride.A nice dinner or two convenient to my room wouldn’t be so bad either. So where are we going to build it?!
