Have tennis players become more stylish?25 years ago designer Ted Tinling created the on-court fashion statements made by the top players, such as Chris Evert and Tracy Austin. These days, top stars such as Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer seem to be catching the eye of the fashionistas off-court as well. They were both sitting in the front row of the fall fashion shows.Federer, who has been profiled in Men’s Vogue magazine, is featured in a stylish spread in the December issue of Vogue magazine. The placement of tennis stars in photo spreads in magazines has occurred in the past, but it seems a bit more prevalent these days than during the Sampras era.Apparently, Federer’s friendship with Anna Wintour, editor of Vogue, has something to do with his presence in that magazine, but he also seems to embrace fashion more than some past champions.Because Federer has both substance and style, the positive press is not only good for him but also for the sport of tennis!
