Not Too Old, Not Too Young

So what’s the prime age for a male pro tennis player? 19? 25? 30? Some players may make their mark at a young age, e.g. Rafael Nadal. Other players still compete at the very top echelons of the sport when they are in their mid-30s, e.g. Andre Agassi. However, the average age is actually right there in the middle as exemplified by Andy Roddick and Roger Federer! Over the past 15 or so years, the average age of top 20 players has hovered around 24. Apparently, Andy Roddick should be reaching his prime at age 24. Meanwhile, Roger Federer may now be 25, but he’s made his move over the past couple years, i.e. when he was 23-25. I guess the numbers do tell it all!
