Bring on the Bling
Have you noticed the fashion trend started by Venus and Serena Williams several years ago? I’m talking about large, dangling earrings worn by top female tennis players during pro tennis matches. Many female players have worn earrings over the years, but it’s hard to recall anyone sporting such prominent ones until Venus and Serena set the new style trend. In fact, they have both often worn large rings as well. Maria Sharapova is another model for this tennis fashion trend. Sharapova seems to favor long, dangling earrings although Maria’s are usually a thin gold strand rather than, for example, the big hoops worn by Serena at the 2007 Australian Open. Given all the running all over the court, hair flying this way and that, etc. it is impressive that these players can manage to be so stylish while not affecting their tennis strokes!
