Carrying On... Where They Left Off

Serbian star, Jelena Jankovic, made a strong run last summer reaching the semis of the 2006 U.S. Open. Jankovic has picked up in 2007 where she left off in 2006. Jankovic won her first tournament of the year and then upset Amelie Mauresmo in her first match at the Sydney tournament before losing a tight final to Kim Clijsters. At the same time, Spaniard, Tommy Robredo started off 2007 well by leading the Spanish team to victory at the Hopman Cup and reaching the finals at the Heineken Open in Auckland. James Blake, coming off a career year in 2006, also looked strong in winning the title at the Medibank International in Sydney. The weekly ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA tournaments are excellent practice and often produce memorable matches, but in the end, it is the Grand Slams that always leave the lasting impression. Tennis fans will be tuning in and taking notice of who plays well at the 2007 Australian Open.
