Pass Out Time

vodafoneline

The Australian Open utilizes a "pass out" system on Vodafone Arena, the secondary stadium court.  For those seats in the Arena that are reserved for the grounds pass holders (approximately half the 10,000 seats), fans who arrive first at the open seats are given a "pass out" card when they leave their seats to get some food, etc.  This voucher guarantees re-entry into the same area where they were sitting.  Therefore, when the stadium is full, fans who haven't yet entered the stadium may have to wait for a very long time until a vacant seat becomes available.  Each of the Grand Slams has a slightly different ticket/seating policy in terms of the main stadium court seats, secondary stadium seats and grounds passes. Each ticketing plan seems to have its advantages and disadvantages depending on your perspective.  In the end, the grounds pass at every Grand Slam is an amazing deal, especially during the first week of the tournament.  You may need to pace yourself, plan your wanders around the tournament grounds and definitely wear your tennis sneaks!
