Green Slam

Australia is in the midst of a very severe drought and homeowners are saving their shower water to sprinkle their parched lawns while hotels are requesting that guests reuse towels. Nonetheless, the Australian Open still managed to create a very green experience. For example, the lovely flowers in the Garden Square were irrigated with recycled water. In addition, there were bins for recycled materials scattered around Melbourne Park. With all of the recent news about the impact of global warming, the French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open will hopefully continue the environmentally-friendly traditions - lovely green lawns complemented by efforts to sustain the environment.
