In His Own Words...

During the celebration of Black History Month in the U.S. and on the 14th anniversary of Arthur Ashe's death, his widow, Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, recently launched a website devoted to Arthur's life and legacy. The website includes photos and videos of Arthur and it's a wonderful way to promote Ashe's accomplishments on and off the court. The website allows current and future
generations to learn about the values and philosophies which shaped Arthur Ashe's approach to tennis, education, political protest, humanitarian efforts, AIDS, etc. One of Arthur's most memorable speeches was at the United Nations on World AIDS Day, "We want to be able to look back, and say to all concerned, that we did what we had to do, when we had to do it and with all of the resources required." December, 1992
