It's in the Blood
All great champions and all tour veterans have to hang up their rackets and walk away at some point. But then they almost all slowly start coming back to the sport. Ivan Lendl seems to be the recent rare exception who has practically no connection to tennis. However, Australian Tony Roche, Lendl’s former coach, has been an important part-time member of the Roger Federer team for the past couple years. It's also not that surprising to see how much Jimmy Connors seems to be relishing his spot in Andy Roddick's corner. The fact that Connors flew over to the 2007 Australian
Open barely a week or so after the death of his mother (his old coach!) to join Roddick speaks volumes about how much this new challenge seems to mean to Connors. There is definitely some very positive energy flowing between Roddick and Connors that is lifting both of them to new heights.
