Dress Shirt

Roger Federer

Rafael Nadal may still be sporting the sleeveless shirts, but Roger Federer is wearing collared tennis shirts again.  Have you noticed the new retro tennis style Federer’s wearing so far this year?  For the past several years, it seems that men’s tennis attire has moved closer and closer to the street and beachwear styles favored by the younger crowd, e.g. longer shorts and t-shirt style tops.  No one wears cotton tennis clothes anymore, preferring the various “quick-drying” materials,

but yet each year some tennis designers explore a style from the past.  Similar to how tennis dresses have been appearing off and on over the past few years, perhaps Federer is now leading the way back to a more traditional, tailored look on the tennis court.  One wonders if Federer will ever sport a pair of long white trousers as he walks onto Wimbledon’s hallowed Centre Court to match his crested white blazer from 2006.  I doubt it!
