How I'm Gonna (Try To) Beat Roger...

federer serve

Who has had success against “King Roger”?  Rafael Nadal (wicked left-handed topspin forehand and high-kicking serve in the ad court), David Nalbandian (down the line backhand), Tim Henman (good volleys) and Marat Safin (strong serve and all around game)... So my plan is as follows... On my serve, I'll mix it up, serve and volley occasionally and make sure my kick serve in the ad serve is humming.  During the baseline rallies, I will focus on Roger's forehand and hit a lot of down  the line

backhands while throwing in the occasional heavy topspin ball to his backhand.  I will also move into the net at any opportunity.  On Roger's serve, I will focus on attacking his second serve by teeing off on returns and also occasionally chipping and charging.  Sounds simple… NOT!  Some players have played Federer tight for a set or two, but the real challenge will be successfully executing my game plan over three sets.  Wish me luck!
