Volunteer Benefits
The Bausch and Lomb Championships at Amelia Island has instituted a very rewarding volunteer program this year. The tournament has offered to donate $10 for every hour "worked" by each volunteer to a local charity of his/her choosing from a list of possible beneficiaries developed by the tournament, e.g. Boys & Girls Club of Nassau, the Amelia Island Montessori School, American Lung Association, Episcopal Children's Services, Nassau Alcohol, Crime Drug Abatement Coalition,
Pilot Club of Jacksonville and St. Michael's Academy. All tournaments support local charities, but this is an excellent way to encourage volunteerism while supporting worthwhile causes. It seems like one of those win-win programs that could easily be replicated at tournaments globally.
