Champion to Chanteur

Yannick Noah is a superstar, especially in France. Ironically, these days he may be more well-known for his music than for his tennis. Meanwhile, in the United States this past year, Yannick has become famous again as the father of Joachim Noah, a budding U.S. college basketball superstar! Tennis fans worldwide who followed the sport 25 years ago will never forget the thrill of Yannick's French Open triumph. Since then, Noah has
transformed himself into a music superstar and his singing is pretty good. Noah's albums can be purchased on www.amazon.com. Yannick and his band have a bit of a reggae, rock, pop edge and his albums are totally worth checking out. I like "Pokhara" and "Live" and listen to them regularly. What's impressive is that while several former tennis stars have struggled to find their way once leaving the limelight, Noah has managed to make a relatively smooth transition out of sports. At the same time, he's stayed in good shape and still competes on the Seniors' tennis circuit occasionally. He even ran in the NYC Marathon last year! Noah has also followed in the footsteps of the great player and humanitarian, Arthur Ashe, who discovered him playing in Cameroon years ago. Noah has established his own Foundation, Enfants de La Terre (Children of the Earth), which is run by his mother.
