Sampras' Serve

Ball on Tennis Racket

There are several players currently on the Tour who have very strong serves, but yet few who can use their serves as effectively as Pete Sampras did in his heyday, especially his heavy second serve.  Playing on the Seniors Tour, Sampras won his first official tournament at the Outback Champions stop in Boston last week.  It was Sampras' first title since he captured his last title at the 2002 U.S. Open.  What should make Sampras very

effective on the senior Tour is his strong serve.  Even if his groundstrokes and volleys are not as sharp as during his prime, having a dominating serve will still win him a lot of matches.  With developing juniors, you want to teach them strong groundstrokes and hopefully an all-around game.  However, a smooth, fluid service motion is a key ingredient to lifelong success on the tennis court.  Just keep a tally of how many senior titles Sampras has a year from now!

I have a major issue with federer......name 5 players today that will be in the hall of fame? Federer is a great player no doubt about it. My argument is this.....if you can name 5 players that will be in the hall of fame in todays game I will change my mind about Roger being the best ever. Another point.....put a original pro staff in his hand and ask him to have 12 grand slams from 1990-2000. It would NEVER happen....too many great players at that time.....NO GREAT PLAYERS NOW>
