Special Saturday

The Saturday before the start of Roland Garros again marked La Journee Benny-Berthet in honor of the former French player. This is a day during which the top players compete on the three main show courts in pro set exhibition matches to raise money for several charities. In between practice sessions, many of the top players including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and the Frenchman, Richard Gasquet, competed in the matches this year. The tickets only cost 18 Euros and tennis fans
also had the opportunity to watch the final rounds of the qualifying. This annual event is an excellent opportunity for the players to play some points on the main stadiums while fans who might not otherwise have the opportunity to see the top stars can enjoy some entertaining tennis while raising money for worthwhile causes. It’s a tradition that is also followed at the Australian Open and U.S. Open.
