All Bets are On

Wagering is quite popular in England and it is legal to bet on the matches at Wimbledon as it is at the Australian Open. There are several places where one can wager a little money on the tournament. Ladbrokes has come out with their initial odds on the tournament and although the odds are constantly changing, Serena Williams is currently the favorite on the women's side followed by Justine Henin, Maria Sharapova and Amelie Mauresmo. On the men's side, four-time defending champion, Roger Federer, is the odds on favorite to repeat again and

match Bjorn Borg's record of five straight titles. Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick and Novak Djokovic round out the top four favorites on the men's side. I'm not a betting person, but how does the ability to wager a few quid on a match impact a fan's interest in the tournament? I imagine it does increase the desire to follow the results of the matches which is a good thing even if the real motivation is money rather than the love of the sport of tennis. So who is your odds on favorite to win the title this year?!
