Men from Majorca

There is a lot of talk about the success of tennis, especially men’s tennis in Spain, but what about simply men’s tennis on the small island of Majorca? Carlos Moya and Rafael Nadal were both born and still maintain residences on the lovely Mediterranean island. How unlikely that two French Open Champions would hail from this island of 500,000 inhabitants? Moya has also been ranked Number One in the world and clearly Nadal
has a serious chance of reaching that spot during his career. In this era of more and more tennis academies and the pressure to produce future champions in former tennis powerhouse countries such as the United States and Australia, these two charming and talented tennis champions have stayed true to their roots and still achieved remarkable success on the global tennis circuits. In the quarterfinals of the 2007 French Open, they battle once again, but this time for a spot in the semifinals. For Nadal, a victory over his childhood idol, i.e. Moya, would bring him one step closer to a third title at Roland Garros. For Moya at age 30, it would continue the dream to win yet another Grand Slam title. Let the games begin…
