Serena and Venus Williams will win the Wimbledon doubles title
Well… if Serena hadn’t gotten injured, I’d still have bet on them...
Nike will make yet another clothing "statement" similar to Roger Federer's white Nike Blazer in 2006
OK… Federer only added a white vest and trousers to the Nike blazer this year, but he wore the entire outfit to accept his trophy!
Rain will disrupt play... hah!But more in the second week than in the first...
It rained a ton the whole time, but the second week was a mess so we get points for this one!
The baseline will be more worn out on all courts before the area around the service line... what a change from 10 years ago!
The baseline rallies were incredible… even by the finals, the grass around the net area was still green!
Only half of the top eight seeds will reach the quarterfinals
We were pretty close on this one – nine out of the 16 seeds reached the quarters (five of eight men and four of eight women)
There will be the same number of Serbians as Americans in the semis
Close again… Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic both reached the semis which is an incredible achievement after making the French Open semis.Venus Williams was the lone American man or woman to reach the semis.
There will be more two-handed backhands in the finals than one-handed ones...
Rafael Nadal, Venus Williams and Marion Bartoli hit two-handed backhands so Roger Federer was the lone one-hander… and if you count Bartoli’s double-handed forehand it’s a landslide for two-handers!
The woman who wins the Wimbledon Ladies' Championship will have the most aces in the tournament, but the winner of the Wimbledon Gentleman's singles title won't...
Roger Federer (surprisingly) had the most aces on the men’s side which was definitely a factor in his victory. Venus Williams had the fastest serve in The Championships at 126 MPH, but quarterfinalist, Michaella Krajicek, Wimbledon winner Richard Krajicek’s sister, had the most aces on the women’s side
A female chair umpire will officiate the Gentleman's Singles Final and a male chair umpire will officiate the Ladies' Singles Final
Tradition still reigned at Wimbledon this year… maybe next year?
Two of the Wimbledon finalists will have also reached the semifinals at the 2007 French Open
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal reached the French Open semis and finals, which is a remarkable achievement…
