Awash in White

Once a year, for the two weeks of The Championships, Wimbledon, professional tennis players shed all of the bright (and sometimes dark!) colors they now usually wear in order to honor the Wimbledon tradition of white-only tennis attire. All the focus on “white” reminded me of an excellent play I saw in London about
10 years ago called “Art” by Yasmina Reza - it's about an art collector who purchases an “all-white” painting. If you have a chance to see it sometime, it’s an excellent play. The white tennis outfits complement the green grass at Wimbledon very well and also demonstrate how sometimes less is more… On first glance, all-white tennis outfits may sound a little dull, but after looking at so many of them during Wimbledon this year, one starts to notice what makes each one unique...
