Exhibition Time

Roger Federer and Pete Sampras will play a three match series of exhibitions in Asia in November. It will be very exciting to see the two stars compete against each other since they have both been described as the "best ever." Exhibitions in professional tennis are often controversial for many reasons. For example, there are comments that the same players who complain about the length of the tennis season then spend many days of their “off-season” traveling and playing lucrative
exhibitions. At the same time, exhibitions are blamed for confusing fans regarding the tournament calendar and also attracting attention away from the tournaments on the ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. However, this series between Federer and Sampras is an example of an exhibition attracting a lot of positive PR for the sport of tennis in a country and region where tennis is not that active, especially on the professional level. Yannick Noah was discovered by Arthur Ashe while he was on a tour in Africa. How about more exhibitions in Africa?

Comments
How about an exhibition in Africa is right! We run the most successful (and poorest) tennis programme in East and Central Africa, and train more than 700 kids on four courts every week. Our centre is located next to the Kibera slums (Africa's largest slum) in Nairobi, Kenya. We have been able to change the lives of many children and youth through sports, trained 57 community coaches, and now have a few joining college tennis. But we need help! You can find out more about us on www.globalgiving.com/1665 and www.sadili.com
