Thrills and Chills

Race Cars

Serena Williams participated in a US TV show, “Fast Cars and Superstars” along with several other celebrities from the sports, entertainment and music worlds.  Professional race car drivers teamed up with the celebrities and provided driving training and tips during the practice runs.  Prior to her practice run, Serena wondered out loud what would happen, “If I hit the wall?!”  In her first practice run, the speed and

excitement were a little too much for Serena who kept her eyes closed the whole time!  However, being a true champion, Serena came through when it really counted and averaged 136 mph on her timed laps around the race course accomplishing her goal of driving faster than her fastest serve has been clocked on a tennis court.  It was unclear whether Serena would choose to drive that fast again, but several other top tennis players have also pursued their passion for thrills during their time off, e.g. Justine Henin has gone skydiving.  Success on the tennis court in front of legions of fans is clearly not enough for some tennis players who crave even more challenges in their spare time.
