Donald Young - Rises Again

Donald Young
It’s finally all coming around… Donald Young is finally having his major moment… at the 2007 U.S. Open.  Ironically, after years of everyone predicting great things for Donald, things finally started to quietly come together the past few months once everyone stopped expecting great things from him and maybe even thought his opportunity had passed.  Donald won the 2007 Wimbledon Junior title, a Challenger title, his first ATP

Tour match (after 11 losses) and earlier this week his first Grand Slam match.  At the Pilot Pen a week before the U.S. Open, Young beat hard-serving Amer Delic and then lost a very tight three set match to Nikolay Davydenko.  After winning his tight first round U.S. Open match against Australian lefty, Chris Guccione, Young reached the third round of the U.S. Open courtesy of a second walkover Richard Gasquet.  Donald plays Spanish lefty Feliciano Lopez in the third round and if he were to win that match, then Young might face Roger Federer (if he wins his third round match as well) in the fourth round of the U.S. Open.  What a difference from a year ago…
