Ignorance versus Experience

With all of the upsets in the women's draw at the 2007 U.S. Open, there were several teenagers in the round of 16 and two who are first-time U.S. Open quarterfinalists, i.e. Agnes Szavay, Anna Chakvetadze. At the same time, former Grand Slam Champions, Justine Henin, Serena Williams and Venus Williams are in the quarters in the top half of the draw. There is a chance that there might be an experienced player versus a newcomer in the
women's finals of the 2007 U.S. Open. Who will have the advantage? Is it better to have the experience of having been in a Grand Slam final or not? Is it easier to win your first Grand Slam title or your fifth? As Maria Sharapova said recently, when she won the Wimbledon title as a newcomer, she had no nerves. Sometimes as they say, "Ignorance is bliss." Not knowing what it all means may make it easier to play one's best tennis, but of course it also depends on the player and "the moment"...
