Lindsay Davenport Returns
Many women in the worldwide work-force return to their office jobs after giving birth. New mom and former multiple Grand Slam champion, Lindsay Davenport, made a successful return to the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour with a first round victory in Bali, Indonesia over fifth seed, Eleni Daniilidou. Davenport’s return proves again how difficult it is to walk away from the game, from the thrill of competition and the money isn’t bad either although Davenports had already earned plenty in her career.
It’s hard to replace that buzz of hitting a great shot in a match in front of 10,000 fans let alone the inner joy from hitting it on the practice court. Although being a mom is a wonderfully rewarding full-time job, Davenport may hopefully inspire more female tennis pros and athletes to continue their careers at some point after having a baby.
