Bryan Brothers Foster Team Spirit

As one watched the Bryan brothers during the recent Davis Cup Finals, one couldn’t help but notice their enthusiasm for the game of tennis. As the top-ranked doubles team in the world, the Bryan brothers also embody the very best of “team spirit.” Being identical twins, as well as brothers, Bob and Mike are very close. In what is typically an individual sport such as tennis, Bob and Mike Bryan illustrate on the doubles court strong
teamwork and the keys to a successful partnership, i.e. support for each other, complementary personalities and skill sets. Andy Roddick was the de facto leader of the U.S. Davis Cup team by virtue of his stellar performance at Number One singles and support for his teammates. However, one can’t help but feel that the Bryan brothers rock-solid performances and infectious team-oriented spirit helped inspire the rest of the U.S. Davis Cup team as well. The Bryans’ excitement about their matches and experience on a successful college tennis team, i.e. Stanford, probably helped them to foster the team spirit seen on the United States Davis Cup team. The result was a cohesive and supportive winning United States Davis Cup team.
