Senior Tennis Tour Duet, Anybody?

Tennis Ball

The senior men’s tennis Tours continue to expand across the world.  Jimmy Connors really spurred the growth of the senior tennis tours when he promoted and played in senior events a decade or two ago.  Today, there are two competing senior tennis Tours for the men.  A few weeks ago in November, there were senior tournaments in Dubai (Jim Courier’s Outback

Champions event) and in Sao Paulo, Brazil (ATP’s Black Rock Champions event).  As a result, the top senior players were spread across two different events.  In addition, both Tours maintain separate point standings.  Tennis fans simply want to see the best (senior) players competing in their city.  However, there are a limited number of “top name” senior players and although certain players are more popular in specific regions, e.g. Europe, it makes sense for the good of the sport to have them competing on one unified senior tennis Tour.  Hopefully, as the senior Tours expand and the pool of possible players grows, e.g. Sampras, Agassi and Henman over the next couple years, they will eventually find a way to come together in the end.
