Tennis Legend to Tennis Legend

New technologies continue to slowly pervade the tennis world, e.g. Hawk-Eye electronic line-calling technology and live Web streaming of matches. Now the ATP's Black Rock Tour of Champions has taken advantage of another new technology, i.e. Podcasts, to link the current "legend" of tennis, Roger Federer, with past tennis legends, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe. Via Podcast 8 which can be downloaded for free, tennis fans can hear Roger Federer, ask Borg and McEnroe questions. In return, Borg and McEnroe have a chance to lob a couple questions at Federer as well. It's entertaining stuff and another excellent way to utilize modern technology

to market the sport of tennis better and thereby strengthen and expand the fan base. Major sports leagues, e.g. NBA, MLB, also offer audio and video Podcasts for download. New technologies offer more and more opportunities to both strengthen ties between tennis pros such as Roger Federer and his fans while simultaneously promoting the sport of tennis. Tennis has always been a global sport and as interest in tennis continues to spread around the world, the sport needs to capitalize on new media to inform and entertain its fans.
