From Serbia With Love

Serbian tennis players, Novak Djokovic, Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic have picked up at the 2008 Australian Open where they left off in the 2007 season. Djokovic, Jankovic and Ivanovic have all reached the semifinals. All three tennis players originally hail from Serbia, but as with many other tennis players, they have honed their games abroad during their formative teenage years and continue to train primarily outside Serbia. Djokovic
has worked with Nikki Pilic in Germany, Jelena Jankovic has trained at Bollettieri’s in Bradenton, Florida, and Ivanovic has practiced in Switzerland for years. Nonetheless, all three players are very proud spokespeople for Serbia and their accomplishments will certainly spark a tennis boom in their homeland. Croatia, another small country that was also part of the former Yugoslavia has a strong tradition of tennis success and now Serbia is truly making its mark on the world tennis scene.
