Australian tennis legend, Harry Hopman, is honored by the Hopman Cup team event which has evolved into a big-time event over the past 20 years. The tournament features 8 teams of one male and one female player for singles and mixed doubles. The event fits very nicely into the tournament calendar for both players, fans and the promoters. As players are starting out the New Year after the December break, this tournament is an

excellent opportunity to get some match practice in a more relaxed atmosphere. This year Americans, Serena Williams and Mardy Fish beat Serbian stars, Jelena Jankovic and Noval Djokovic for the title. For tennis fans and promoters, this event jumpstarts the new season and begins the countdown to the Australian Open. It is one of those rare win-win situations for both the tennis players and fans.
