Tennis Country 2008 Australian Open Predictions

Play is about to begin at the 2008 Australian Open on the “new blue” plexicushion courts at Melbourne Park… Therefore, it’s time once again for us to glance into our crystal tennis ball… 

  • The defending champions, Serena Williams and Roger Federer, will not win the 2008 Australian Open titles
  • 2 of the 2007 men's quarterfinalists will reach the 2008 semis
  • Two lefthanders will reach the quarters
  • A Chinese player will reach the quarters
  • No Australian player will reach the quarters in singles
  • The extreme heat rule will be used two times during the tournament
  • A woman from Russia and a man from Spain will reach the semis
  • The roof will never be closed because of rain during the tournament
  • The women’s winner will wear a dress
  • The men’s winner will have a two-handed backhand
