The Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas held a
"Yellow and White Out" event to benefit the
Lance Armstrong Foundation. The event was a fundraiser to "celebrate and honor those touched by cancer." The Bryan brothers committed to play in the special evening session which also featured a singles match. To promote the fundraiser, the Bryan brothers appeared on TV PSAs about the event which aired on the Tennis Channel. The professional tennis Tours and players individually such as
Andre Agassi have always been very supportive of numerous charities and causes. Many years ago, the tennis world united behind the Arthur Ashe Foundation for the Defeat of AIDS and raised millions of
dollars, as well as global awareness about the AIDS epidemic. Perhaps the tennis world could and should unite (again) in support of one cause each year. Individually, players and
tournaments continue to accomplish a lot for
worthwhile charities around the world. However, as a "global team" united in support of one cause each year, the focused charitable efforts by tennis players and tournaments would receive much more awareness and thereby generate additional funds.
