Seles Dances With the Stars
"debut" for her to a mainstream American audience. On the show, Seles discussed how she missed her high-school prom because she was playing in the French Open. Therefore, "Dancing with the Stars" was a chance for her to dress up very "girly." Seles, who was always considered one of the most mentally-tough competitors on the pro tennis tour, showed how vulnerable a top athlete can be when she is out of her element. After she danced on live TV for the first time on the show, Seles said she was more nervous than she'd ever been in a Grand Slam final. It is often difficult to replace the highs that a pro tennis player feels competing in Grand Slam finals. Even current Number One, Roger Federer, admitted that he missed "the limelight" during his time off because of illness after the 2008 Australian Open. In a sense, this is a new challenge for Seles. She is putting herself on the line and attempting to find inspiration and success in another arena.
