Armani Makes a (Tennis) Racket

Nike has been made several fashion statements the past couple years including Roger Federer's Wimbledon white blazer and Maria Sharapova's U.S. Open black dress. At the same time, Stella McCartney has been designing a line of tennis clothing for adidas for the past couple years worn by Maria Kirlenko. Now Italian fashion brand, Emporio Armani, has teamed with French tennis brand, Babolat, on a fashionable tennis racquet. The new midsize Emporio Armani Model EA7 racquet features a
100-square-inch head and a white, silver and black color combination. The new Babolat Armani racquet is being sold at Emporio Armani shops for $345. The racquet is part of Emporio Armani's EA7 activewear line, the sports technology brand of Giorgio Armani, which also includes tennis clothing worn by Italian player, Filippo Volandri (victor over Roger Federer at the 2007 Italian Open in Rome). The racquet is meant to balance fashion and performance while appealing to both competitive and recreational players. The feel of a tennis racquet and how well one plays with a racquet is a function of the strings, string tension, as well as the actual racquet itself. Nonetheless, if one feels "confident" about the racquet because it looks stylish, then the racquet will definitely be worth a few extra points a set! Maybe this new designer tennis racquet will also encourage a couple more people to play tennis which is always a good thing too!
