Perseverance Pays Off for Roddick

Andy Roddick

Andy Roddick FINALLY beat Roger Federer (again)… after losing 11 consecutive matches to the World Number One.  Roddick had a stellar serving day and ironically it was Federer who blinked at the end of the third set by making several unforced errors in the key moments while Roddick held firm.  For Roddick, who has now beaten the first, second and third ranked players in the past month, i.e. Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic,

it was a sweet payback for all of the hard work and perseverance he’s shown after many frustrating losses to Federer and others.  Roddick has always picked himself up after difficult losses and continued to work hard.  It’s a real tribute to Roddick’s character because many other players have allowed tough losses or losing records against a particular payer to affect them adversely for extended periods.  As Roddick has said, "each day is a new day” in tennis and that’s a valuable lesson for life outside the lines as well...
