2008 French Open is IN Paris

The tennis “big show,” i.e. the French Open, has arrived again in Paris. In fact for the first time this year, the French Open will be "live" in the heart of Paris as the official tournament partners will be showcasing their Roland Garros spirit in their stores along the Champs Elysées. Meanwhile, at the Hotel de Ville (city hall) during the second week of the French Open, there will be live big-screen TV broadcasts of the tennis matches
from Roland Garros, as well as a special mini tennis court. There will be exhibition matches, coaching sessions, etc. This is a wonderful addition to the spirit of the French Open by spreading the tennis fever across the city of Paris. There will even be buses decked out in Roland Garros colors running along the Champs Elysées and throughout Paris. The other Grand Slam tournaments have also been expanding their marketing efforts. For example, the 2008 Australian Open, which has billed itself as the Grand Slam of Asia Pacific, promoted the tournament in China. The French Open is the big event in Paris for two weeks of the year and therefore it’s fitting that it promotes the excitement of the tournament to the general public throughout the city of Paris.
