Kids Fanblock @ Tennis Tournament

At the ATP Masters Series Hamburg tennis tournament, they have continued the wonderful tradition of kids fan clubs for players at pro tennis tournaments. There are teams of ten children from local German tennis clubs, aged 5-15, who support each player in the tournament. The teams create a name and sponsors provide t-shirts and hats. The children receive free tickets to watch “their player” for every match that he
plays in the tournament. Many of the fanclubs create signs to support their player. In fact, some of the kids also have the opportunity to walk onto the court for the coin toss before their player plays his match. This is one of those “win-win” situations for both the children, the sponsors and the tournament. The kids, all budding tennis players, will hopefully be inspired by watching their players. The tournament has groups of enthusiastic fans supporting players at every match. All the players have dedicated cheering sections which is unusual for most players. In addition, sponsors are able to both support junior tennis players while also supporting the tournament as well. This is definitely an idea which could easily be replicated at ALL tournaments around the world… no time like the present!
