Tennis Country Second Quarter Report: Men

A brief summary of the second quarter on the men’s pro tennis tour…
• Greatest Accomplishment:
- Rafael Nadal winning his fourth straight French Open title blowing Roger Federer away in the finals and tying Bjorn Borg’s record (NB: Wimbledon finished July 6th, i.e. in the “third quarter”!)
• Biggest Disappointment:
- Injuries to the talented Frenchmen, i.e. Richard Gasquet and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga withdrew from the French Open with knee injuries and Tsonga also missed Wimbledon as did Gael Monfils (after reaching the French Open semis)
• Major Surprise:
- Andy Roddick losing in the second round of Wimbledon.
• Fresh New Face:
- Frenchman, Gael Monfils, former ITF World Junior Champion, who captivated the hometown Roland Garros tennis fans with his exciting tennis and charismatic personality during his run to the semis of the 2008 French Open.
