As the tennis world descends on the USTA Billie Jean National Tennis Center for the 2008 U.S. Open, we share some of our prognostications for the last Grand Slam of the year...
• Two top twenty players will be upset in the first round
• Half the top eight seeds will lose before the quarters
• A Chinese woman will reach the quarters
• If she reaches the quarters, Amelie Mauresmo will win the title
• A night match will end after midnight
• No American player, e.g. Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Andy Roddick, James Blake, will reach the semis
• A right-handed man will win the singles title
• Russian and Eastern European tennis players will capture the most titles
