Alize Cornet - French Open Junior Champion To...?

In early June of 2007, Frenchwoman, Alize Cornet, won the French Open Junior Girls’ title. Since then, Cornet has worked her ranking all the way up to a career high of seventeen a year later in June of 2008 and her current ranking of nineteen. Cornet also collected her first pro title in 2008 and reached the finals at a couple of other tournaments. For Alize, it’s been a fast rise and a lot of tennis in a short amount of
time. As a result, Cornet has appeared tired at times in the last couple of months and lost a series of first round matches. However, Cornet has a strong baseline game and has pushed the top players such as Serena Williams at times. In her “sophomore season” in 2009, Cornet will need to work hard to maintain her ranking while establishing slightly more consistent results throughout the long tournament season.
