Mauresmo's (Finally) Back!

Amelie Mauresmo won the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour’s Open GDF Suez tournament in Paris yesterday and “announced” her return to challenging the very top players in women’s tennis again.  Mauresmo defeated three top ten players, i.e. Agnieska Radwanska, Jelena Jankovic and Elena Dementieva, en route to her first title in two years after struggling with a series of injuries.  Given her poor play in France’s Federation Cup loss to Italy the weekend

 prior to the Paris tournament, it’s impressive that Mauresmo could turn around her performance so quickly including easily beating one of the Italian players she’d lost to in the Federation Cup tie.  For many players, especially Mauresmo, it can be a very fine line between sparkling tennis and very poor play.  In the end, it’s so often about confidence for Amelie and also staying healthy.  Her 25th career title should boost Mauresmo’s belief and ranking and it was so inspiring to watch…
