BNP Paribas (The) Sponsor of Tennis

Tennis trophies

BNP Paribas recently became the title sponsor of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California.  However, BNP Paribas has been involved as a sponsor of tennis for over thirty-five years.  Tennis fans worldwide may recognize the BNP Paribas brand from the signage around Roland Garros or as the sponsor of the Davis Cup and Federation Cup.  However, BNP Paribas is also a major sponsor of many other tennis tournaments

including ATP events in Paris, Rome, Monte Carlo and WTA tournaments in Strasbourg, France, and Stanford, California.  While it’s impressive that BNP Paribas has been so involved in  supporting tennis for so long, it also highlights how much of a financial impact one company can have on the sport of tennis.  There are many other companies that are actively involved in sponsoring tennis, e.g. Sony Ericsson, IBM, Rolex and one hopes that they will be able to continue their support in the years ahead.  Given the challenging financial climate that so many financial services firms are operating in at the moment, tennis is fortunate that BNP Paribas has not only maintained its commitment to tennis, but also expanded it in the past year.
