Rafael Nadal Continues to Practice... Doubles

World Number One, Rafael Nadal, was the only member of the elite group at the top of men’s tennis who chose to play doubles at both the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, and at the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Florida. Roger Federer played in Indian Wells to get in extra match practice after his long post-Australian Open layoff. At the same time, Andy Roddick teamed with Mardy Fish and won the doubles title
at the BNP Paribas Open. Nonetheless, most of the top men skipped doubles because of the scheduling challenges and the desire to focus on their singles. For Nadal, doubles offers additional opportunities to improve his serve and volleys, two areas of his game that have shown marked improvement in the past year.
