2009 French Open Wildcards

The French Tennis Federation released the list of the tennis pros who received the coveted wildcards for the men’s and women’s singles main draws for the 2009 French Open.  The lucky few are:

Men:
•    John Isner won the USTA qualifying event to earn a wildcard as part of a reciprocal arrangement with the French Tennis Federation in which a French tennis player is given a wildcard into the U.S. Open.  Unfortunately, Isner had to return the wildcard because he has Mono and the French Tennis Federation then gave his wildcard slot to Frenchman, Romain Jouan
•    30-year-old Argentine, Gaston Gaudio, 2004 French Open Champion now ranked 395 after a series of injuries
•    Australian Bernard Tomic was awarded the Australian wildcard under an arrangement with the French Tennis Federation in which an Australian player is given a wildcard into the French Open and a French player is given a wildcard into the Australian Open
•  Adrian Mannarino was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation
•   Alexandre Sidorenko  was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation
•   Josselin Ouanna was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation
•   Laurent Recouderc was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation
•   Guillaume Rufin was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation

Women:
•    Lauren Embree won the USTA qualifying event to earn a wildcard as part of a reciprocal arrangement with the French Tennis Federation in which a French tennis player is given a wildcard into the U.S. Open
•    Australian teenager, Olivia Rogowska, was awarded the Australian wildcard under an arrangement with the French Tennis Federation in which an Australian player is given a wildcard into the French Open and a French player is given a wildcard into the Australian Open
•    Claire Feuerstein was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation  
•    Kinnie Laisné was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation
•    Emilie Loit was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation
•    Kristina Mladenovic was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation
•    Irena Pavlovic was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation
•    Olivia Sanchez was awarded a discretionary wildcard by the French Tennis Federation
